PRESENTATION OF THE PROJECT The support project of CREFIAF SAIs, to Audit Revenues from the Extractive Industries Sector is an important initiative in Sub-Saharan Francophone Africa, financed by the World Bank to the tune of 500. 000 USD and implemented by the CRRI Secretariat 4
BACKGROUND The extractive industry is one of the main sources of growth in sub-saharan Africa This growth has however, not led to the reduction of poverty and the improvement of public service delivery The lack of effective control mechanisms in the entire sector of the extractive industry seems to be the main cause Supreme Audit Institutions are key players in the control framework, but generally lack the capacity to effectively execute this important mandate 5
OBJECTIVES Improve the monitoring of revenues from the extractive industries sector in targeted countries M ore inclusive and sustainable economic growth from the activities in this sector 6
