Facts about MCHS’s Trimester System: • Two Trimesters = 1 year’s worth of coursework • Students take 4 or 5 classes a day • 70 min. class periods • 3 trimesters per year – Each tri 12 weeks long • Classes, class periods & teachers may change each trimester. What this means for you: • Variety! • More room for electives! More academic electives make you a more competitive applicant for college! • Flexibility in schedule! • Freshmen can be “Off Roll” 1 st or 5 th period.

Tips for Choosing Classes… • Make 15 total selections , including off-roll: Course Title Number of selections Off Roll period 5, Tri 1 1 selection Draw/Paint 1 1 selection Biology 1-2 2 selections Spanish 1-2-3 3 selections • Some courses will be pre-loaded into your account for you. Trust that these are correct. You don’t need to change any of the pre-loaded courses unless you are opting into Honors HS English. • Do not search for courses by title or subject. Enter ONLY by COURSE number as listed on your Course Request Worksheet. • For two part courses, (like Biology 1-2) be sure to enter BOTH course numbers.

Tips for choosing classes • For English, Math, and World Language placement, talk with your current teachers and have them recommend the course you should take in 9 th grade. • Read the course descriptions carefully for electives. • Don’t forget Alternates! At the bottom of your list of 15 class requests, enter 3 alternate elective choices in order of preference.
