BIG IDEAS FROM COMMUNITY INPUT Student Voice Communication and Collaboration Elementary Student Behavior Challenges - Staffing Concerns How do we make our district more attractive to increase enrollment? Morale & Culture - Discipline and Code of Conduct Equity - Inclusivity - Racial Equity Facilities - Bond Planning Food Services - Can we improve offerings? - Include our SW Garden produce more? More open communication at the building level
Short term steps so far…. Confirmed training for ALL staff: June 18-Equity and inclusivity ● August 28-Culture and Team building ● 30 hours of Equity training for 14 key staff to become trainers ● Revision of HS advisory based on staff/student input underway Revision of code of conduct and student handbook over the summer with stakeholder input (training in July) K-6 culture team Extra staff temporarily at K-4 and more support for struggling students Meeting with Superintendent Advisory Group monthly Meeting regularly with leadership of SW Community and Parents for Change Communications planning and special education review scheduled Facility improvement and planning Creation of Community Advisory Teams
Board Goals For the Superintendent 1) Improvement plans for administrators to improve morale, leadership, empathy, communication at each school to be more “open door” and responsive to our constituency 2) Cultural diversity, inclusion and support for students at all campuses 3) Effective and responsive communication, both within and outside of the district 4) Targeted program evaluation survey fall and spring (CEE). The purpose will be to communicate, evaluate and share results with stakeholders in the fall, put plans in place, reevaluate in Spring to see if plans were effective. 5) Review the high school schedule and ⅞ schedule to look for efficiencies in sharing staff. Consider later start time. 6) Systematic program reviews beginning with communications and special education
