Minutes from previous meeting held in Livingstone Zambia 12 ‐ 14 th December 2017 • As a committee we agreed to increase the number of committee members by including other members from Zambia Ms Namubebo and Ethiopia Ms Birkinesh. The Committee has a new SMEs Cluster Expert Mr.Nassir • The committee agreed to have Mr R.Bam Musisi as the Chairman of the committee and Miss Mlilo to return as the Secretary of the committee. • We agreed on opening an active whatsapp group of the committee that will always give an update on activities in different clusters and countries respectively. •

  3. ACHIEVEMENTS mobilization capacity building Countries like Kenya, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe have had trainings by ALLPI experts in shoe making ,glove making and vegetable tanning. Malawi received design studio equipment. In Uganda a training of women on sandal making and crafts was conducted locally. Product development and export readiness program carried out for SMEs in Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania. Legalization In most countries, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya Uganda, Ethiopia, Sudan and Malawi, SME Associations have been registered and recognized as legal entities to transact businesses. This has facilitated the perfomance of SMEs in their respective countries.

RECOMMENDATIONS • ALLPI must help the clusters with Market Access of their products • More exposures in terms of trade fairs is still needed by the Clusters • A quartely magazine/newsletter of the cluster’s works must be established. • Capacity building for cluster development and management • Facilitation of exchange programs • The SMES Cluster committee should be empowered to work as a mouth piece in checking the progress of member states.
