Smarty Pants!: STEM Edition™ A Game by Big Bang Theory Inc. ™ Group: A-216-3 EF 152 Spring, 2018 By: Dawson Smith, Rephael Congman, Hayden Worden, and Brendan Goulde Date: April 3, 2018
The Customer This board game was created with the objective of testing the intellectual prowess of the young minds of America. These “young minds” would ideally be in the age range from 6-11, or elementary school students. One of the easiest and most fun ways to teach is through hands-on interaction. By taking this and blending it with the element of competition, we have created a fun, easy way for young children to learn valuable lessons about the way the world works in the form of a board game Kids enjoy trying to best their friends, and a simple toy simply does not do the job as well as a board game.
Our History In our company’s beginning, it was always our goal to create a fun way for children to learn. This way was the board game. Variations of the design of our game were thought of. We always knew the game would function very simply, perhaps very close to another board game involving trotting through a land full of candy In one phase, the idea of using a colored spinner to determine what kind of question would be asked was thought of, but determined to complex One idea was to make the game completely devoid of trivia questions and full of only little games, but activities involving physics would require too many outside resources and use up our small budget
Today In the end, our board game was made as simple as possible. One rolls a die, and then pulls a question card. If the question is answered correctly, the player moves their pawn according to what their die landed on The idea of adding small activities was not discarded completely. Certain cards, donned activity cards, allow the player to have a more interactive experience By combining activities and trivia, the player will learn both through asking questions and by experiencing things themself This was the most simple, cost-effective, and time-saving way to create a board game while also going above and beyond our goal: to teach kids about the world of science.
Actual Design This is the actual game board we designed. This became the design because we wanted to keep it simple and eye-catching to children. This is why we used bright and vibrant colors in the design of the board, since children’s minds are attracted towards bright things.

Feedback Our team decided to get feedback from kids about what entertains them. Kids ranged from ages 7-10 and this is what we learned: They love games ● They can’t tell the difference between learning or playing a game so we can finesse some ● learning into the game with trivia questions.
Cost and Time Estimates The cost to create a single game will be very cheap, perhaps not even exceeding double digits To create the prototype, our budget did not even exceed $50 The time spent in design was around 10 hours In order to manufacture and distribute 1,000 units, the amount of time may be 1-2 months with the cost being around $8,000 to $10,000 dollars In retail, our game will probably be around $11-$12. No price is too high for the education of our children
Summary Here at Big Bang Theory Inc. ™, we believe we have designed the perfect board game to meet the educational needs of elementary school children in our country While the size of our team may be small, our hearts grow bigger every day with the hopes that children will come to love science through our fun and interactive board game
