Slide Two: Jazmin Serrano-Arce Online Gambling Introduction 1. According to the Dictionary.com definition of gambling, online gambling is the activity or practice of playing a game of chance for money or other stakes on the internet. 2. Online gambling is a rapidly expanding and lucrative business. 3. Online gambling includes a large variety of mediums such as: casinos, poker, roulette, slots craps, blackjack, lotteries, sports betting, wagering, etc. Slide Three: Steven Chad Moore Online Gambling in GA 1. The state of Georgia does not regulate online gaming of any type, which means that there aren’ t any poker sites or online casinos that claim to be regulated by Georgia. 2. Although there is no directly explicit law against online gambling in the state of Georgia, the state is very strict and the state government has taken a very anti-gambling stance. 3. In order for Georgians to partake in online gambling, they must do so through gambling sites; most US-friendly online gambling sites accept Georgia residents that want to play. 4. The legal betting age requirement listed on most sites in 18, but that violates state law which requires all Georgia residents be at least 21 years old to gamble. 5. Currently, no Georgia resident has ever been arrested for placing online wagers. Slide Four: Team member 2 (Steven Chad Moore) Online Gambling in Nevada 1. Assembly Bill 114 was passed through the Nevada State House and legalized “interactive gaming,” with many expecting Nevada to pass further legislation to advance online gambling statutes for the state.

  2. 2. Nevada is the most pro-gambling state in the union and represents the future of online poker in the United States. 3. The state hosts many online gambling sites, has formally legalized online gambling in the state, and even supports utilizing sites outside of the state’s jurisdiction. 4. The legal betting age requirement listed for all Nevada gambling sites is 21 and residents are also required to be at least 21 before gambling in offshore sites. 5. No Nevada resident has ever been arrested for placing online wagers. Slide Five: Jazmin Serrano-Arce State Comparison 1. Georgia is very stri ct and doesn’t allow the regulation of online gambling; Nevada completely supports online gambling and the revenue it brings. 2. Georgia a one of the most anti-gambling states and will most likely never allow the regulation of online gambling. Nevada, on the other hand, is probably the most well known state that allows the regulation of online gambling. 3. Both states’ legal betting ages are 21. 4. While both have access to most, if not all, US-friendly and international gambling sites, Georgia residents can’t acces s any regulated by Georgia, but Nevada residents can basically access any and all available online gambling sites. 5. Both states have yet to arrest anyone for placing an online wager. Slide Six: Michael Morgan Online Gambling in the United States 1. Online poker is only legal in Nevada, New Jersey, and Delaware. 2. Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 prohibits companies from offering Internet based poker, sports books, and games of chance. 3. “Prohibits gambling businesses from knowingly accepting paym ents in connection with the participation of another person in a bet or wager that involves the use of the Internet and that is unlawful under any federal or state law.” 4. The UIGEA does not have jurisdiction over states that have already legalized online gambling. 5. United States v. Scheinberg : forced several online gambling services to pay a $731 million settlement on charges of bank fraud and money laundering. Slide Seven:

Dutch Remote Gambling Act currently on the floor of the Lower House of Parliament. 3. There are predictions that if the bill is passed it will generate around €200 million revenue in its first year alone and is expected to rise to €370 million by 2016. 4. The country’s gaming authority, Kansspelautoriteit, is expected to be to the one that dishes out remote gaming licenses to operators during Q2 or Q3 of 2015. 5. 95% of households in the Netherlands have internet access so if the DRGA is passed online gambling and sports betting is expected to become more prevalent. Only three states in the United States have legalized online gambling, but the Netherlands has not legalized online gambling in their country at all. 2. The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 prohibits basically any form of online gambling , and it doesn’t look like that’s going to be changed anytime soon. The act also doesn’t have any jurisdiction over the few states that have already legalized online gambling. The Netherlands is in the process of legalizing online gambling through the Dutch Remote Gambling Act; online gambling will most like ly be regulated by the country’s gaming authority. 3. For the settlement in a legal case, the United States had to pay $731 million dollars because of online gambling.
