Most small businesses have no business con=nuity plans in place. The ToS recognizes this and is commiDed to assis=ng our business develop and maintain business con=nuity plans. 2

If not, investment in business con=nuity planning is vital • Your business is your livelihood, protect it. 3

  4. • Local businesses are the backbone of our community. • A community’s resilience and ability to recover from a disaster event is directly linked to how quickly the provision of goods and services are made available. • If communi=es cannot rapidly restore “normal condi=ons” post disaster a cascade of nega=ve events take place. This includes business failures and unemployment, which results in a migra=on away from the community to find work. Resul=ng from this you see plumme=ng property values and a greatly diminished tax base to support recovery efforts. • Our business community must be engaged and prepared if the Town is to bounce back from a disaster event quickly and rela=vely unscathed. 4

This planning template was created with this in mind; it is brief, focuses on only the key requirements to keep your doors open, and uses plain language. Sidney Fire Dept. staff will be introducing this in 2017 as part of a businesses annual or bi-annual fire and life safety inspec=ons. Our goal is to educate and assist businesses to become more resilient. 5
