A Changing Skills Landscape • An ageing workforce : 49% eligible for retirement in the UK food and drink industry in next 20 years • Between 2007 ‐ 2017, 137,000 new recruits required of which 45% are managerial roles • Skills shortages in technical disciplines e.g. food science and technology and engineering

FDF Apprenticeship Pledge To double the number of food and drink manufacturing apprenticeship starts in England and Scotland by end of 2012 • Pipeline of skilled young people to replace our ageing workforce • Committed to double the number of apprenticeships from 1700 to 3400 in England and Scotland • Collective action will help us build skills for the future. Our industry has already made good progress…………..
