PRESIDENT’S REPORT I would like to welcome everyone to our annual presentation night. What a great season for the Colts both on and off field. Let me start on the field we had our first competition winners, congratulations to Darren and Brendan with the U10’s and Paul wit h the undefeated U16 both Premiers. Well done to both teams. We also had to grand finalist in the U11 Green’s finished Minor Premiers who unfortunately went down in the final but did their club, coach and parents proud. Our 2 nd grade lead by Jake Carter made it through to the Grand Final and looked good to take it out but unfortunately the cricketing gods weren’t so kind and the game was washed out without a ball been bowled. Of the other teams we had semi-finalists in the U14/15 Div 1, U14/15 Div 2 and 7 th grade that bowed out and our other teams were all competitive throughout the season, so hopefully they can go on with it next season. While all these results were great for the Club what I am most proud of is winning the PJCA Club Championship. This is a great achievement for our club and we should be very proud of this achievement. All these results can only be achieved by the hard work of the coaches and managers who give their time to their teams to ensure all the players have fun and develop as cricketers. A big thank you goes to all our coaches, managers and parents for supporting their teams in the right spirit that makes us the best Club. Off the field the committee has and continues to work hard to ensure the success of the club and this is more evident with our membership doubling in size from last year. We held our Colts Day to launch our season which was a great success and will be better with more numbers next season. This day is for both juniors and seniors and we have continued to hold our club BBQs at the RSL which were well attended again but would be good to see some new faces at these club events. I would like to thank all the committee for their support and ongoing commitment to our club they have all worked hard Belinda and John (Secretaries), Marlene (Treasurer), Alex (Vice President), Robbie (Head Selector), Phil (Equipment Officer), Karen (Social Co-Ordinator), Tori (Webmaster), Pat, Chris and Bruce (Committee) and helped contribute to the success of our great Club. I would also like to thank our Captains a number of who were new to the role and found out that it is a tough job not just on the field but off the field as well, to our Coaches and Managers for giving their time for the club and their teams. Finally to the parents and families you go each week and support their children some having to split their time to see them all. Well done to those players who represented PJCA this year. Congratulations to Ashley Day for representing NSW U15 this year, to Paul Chester, Tyran Liddard, Tom Sargent and Long Fogg for being selected for Penrith Green Shield and Chris De Krester for Sydney Uni Green Shield.
District Awards I would like to congratulate the following players for winning District awards this season. We also had the additional sponsors come on board this year which was great and their continued support is greatly appreciated: G Mather & Associates Penrith Lock Up Framin Good Photography St Marys Indoor Recreation Centre Aussie Down Under Pizzas W & S Scrap Metal We thank these organisations for their involvement with our club and encourage you to support these businesses. If you or someone you know might be interested in becoming a club sponsor please come and speak to us. We always need more sponsors to help build our club so if there are any club members, parents, family or friends that are interested in becoming a club sponsor for next season jump on board now we are a club going places. I have always spoken about building a family club and I wanted to share with you how proud I was to be able to coach the U11 Green’s team this season tha t was choc full of club history. Club history with three generations of Colts players involved in this team, of which there were 5 life members and over 30 years of Colts heritage in this team. Three players Brenton Mee, Bailey Coleman and Regan Wilson are 3 rd generation players having seen their fathers and grandfathers all play for this great club. Grandfathers Pat Yates, Allan Mee and Daryl Wilson are lifelong friends and all life members who have given over 30 years to this club and would have been very proud to see their grandsons out playing the game we all love. Then there was myself, Mick Mee and Michael “Rowdy” Wilson all friends who have played together at the club and shared a beer or two watching our sons playing on the same fields that we had play together on. It was great watching and made the hair stand on the back of neck seeing the boys high five or fist pump each other after a great shot, catch or wicket.
We also had the Dads and lads team in 8 th grade where we had 3 generations playing together with Mick Taylor, son in law Ryan Carroll and sons/grandsons Ryan and Zane and fathers proud as punch playing a long side their sons for the first time sharing good times together. This to me is what it means to have a family club and I encourage others to continue to build this history over the coming years. We are a big club with proud history of 2 clubs together and it would be great to see a lot more people getting involved and enjoying our club at our club events. See you all next season. SECRETARYS REPORT A strong club can be judged by the strength of its committee, it was not that long ago when our monthly meetings consisted of four (4) attendees. I would lke to formerly recognise & thank our current committee for all their efforts throughout the past year, Adam (President), Marlene (Treasurer), Belinda (Junior Secretary), Alex (Vice-President), Phil (Equipment Officer), Robbie (Head Selector), Karen (Social Secretary), Pat, Bruce, Chris & Brendan (General Committee). It is their hard work that has transformed the club to what it is today. The most pleasing aspect of the last 12 months is that the “us” & “them” mentality has gone. It is no longer a senior matter or a junior issue; they are now “club” matters & issues, a truly united front. Congrats to Jake & his 2 nd grade team for making their Grand Final, it was unfortunate that the gods did not shine upon them & wash them out. Extremely proud of your accomplishments & I am certain you would have given St Clair United a run for their money. Congrats also goes to Les & his 7 th grade team for making Semi Finals, a great achievement considering where they came from last year. Well done to the remainder of the senior teams, a few of them narrowly missing out on finals. Then there are our juniors, 3 minor premiers & a host of semi-finalists, resulting the Colts being awarded the PJCA Club Champions 2013/14, a truly fantastic result. Congrats the Paul, Darren & Brendan on coaching premiership sides & the Adam for getting his boys to the Grand Final. A big thankyou goes out to all our club sponsors, to the Mum’s & Dads that got the ir kids to all their games & to all our family and friends who understand our passion for the game we call cricket. Yours in Cricket John Sultana
