COMMITMENT: MIDDLE SCHOOL • COMPLETION OF WORLD LANGUAGE COURSE WITH GRADE OF B OR ABOVE OR PASS DISTRICT LEVEL 1 TEST OUT EXAM • SCORE PROFIECIENT ON 8 TH GRADE STATE TEST (MEAP) IN LANGUAGE ARTS • SCORE PROFICIENT ON STATE ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TEST (WIDA) • 1 PAGE ESSAY IN EACH LANGAUGE: WHY IS KNOWING MULTIPLE LANGUAGES IMPORTANT? • ORAL PRESENTATION IN LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH

ATTAINMENT: HIGH SCHOOL CRITERIA FOR PROFICIENCY IN ENGLISH: • COMPLETE REQUIRED ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS CLASSES WITH A GRADE POINT AVERAGE OF 2.5 OR ABOVE • SCORE PROFICIENT OR ABOVE ON ENGLISH PORTION OF STATE EXAM (Michigan Merit Exam) IN GRADE 11 • SCORE PROFICIENT OR ABOVE ON STATE ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TEST (WIDA)

CRITERIA FOR PROFICIENCY IN LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH (ONE OF THE FOLLOWING): • PASS WORLD LANGUAGE ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAM WITH SCORE OF 3 OR HIGHER (IF AVAILABLE) • SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF FOUR-YEAR HIGH SCHOOL COURSE OF STUDY IN ONE WORLD LANGUAGE WITH GRADE POINT OF 3.0 OR ABOVE • PASS DISTRICT LEVEL 4 TEST OUT EXAM
