School Security Drill Law This law requires: ❏ 1 Fire Drill per month ❏ 1 School Safety/Security Drill per month Schools are required to conduct these School Safety/Security drills: ❏ 2 Lockdown Drills ❏ 2 Active Shooter Drills ❏ 2 Non-Fire Evacuation Drills ❏ 2 Bomb Threat Drills
School Security Drill Law Training: ❏ This statute requires that local boards of education and nonpublic school administrators ensure that all full-time teaching staff members in the districts or nonpublic schools are provided with training on school safety and security.
Training Each staff member is trained every year. District created training presentation. Our Crisis Response Manuals are updated annually. ◼ manuals are developed with input from the local Police, Fire and OEM Departments Police conduct building walk-throughs.

Physical Security ❏ “Target Hardening” ❏ Surveillance systems ❏ Secure vestibules ❏ Locking systems ❏ Building maintenance
Security Vestibule ◼ The secure vestibule will consist of two sets of doors. ◼ Visitors will be buzzed into the first set of doors. ◼ There will be a window in the vestibule allowing the visitor to communicate with the school staff. ◼ If the visitor needs entrance to the school, the second set of doors will be unlocked for them. ◼ If the visitor needs to drop something off, items can be left in the vestibule for pickup.
Security Vestibule
Security Vestibule ◼ There will be a keyless entry system at each school. ◼ The benefit of the keyless entry system is that doors can be kept locked. ◼ Doors have been identified at each building and the system will be installed at the identified locations. ◼ Staff members will have entry cards.
Safety Investment for Proposed 2017-18 Budget Total cost to improve security at all schools: ▪ security camera upgrades - $94,500 ▪ keyless entry systems - $110,700 ▪ vestibules - $970,000 Total Cost - $1,175,200 *costs will be lease purchase over a 5 year period
