“ The Safety and Security Task Force will actively review the safety and security reality at Moses Lake High School through observation, conversation, and experience. The Task Force will then generate an action list of improvements, practice shifts, best practice research, and suggestions for change. A report will be delivered at the March 22, 2018 Board Meeting.

1 Reconfigure Access Into the Building for Single Point of Entry Student arrival access through assigned ▫ secured entries only (possibly 1 or 2). Accomplished through fencing, walls, etc. Non student arrival times all access into ▫ the building through controlled or buzz in access point Access points to include potential metal ▫ detection and quick lock down from main office Identify way of protected student walkway ▫ between portables and main building $$$$
2 Exterior Door Replacement & Security Replace exterior doors with heavier ▫ gauge doors (approximately 20+ sets of double doors) Shade/Tint/Cover windows ▫ surrounding doors for decreased visibility into the building Replace traditional locking systems ▫ with key card access/RFID for improved security control Room numbers placed on exterior ▫ $$$ windows
3 Behavior & Intervention Response Team Each school to develop a small ▫ team of staff specifically assigned to process, plan, and respond to all student centered threats or risks Improved communication and ▫ planning aligned with district safety protocols Allows for consistent application ▫ of agency partnerships $
4 Improved Communication and Alert Systems Implement Emergency Notification ▫ System across the school/district for quick and immediate notification Adopt and utilize more time ▫ responsive alert systems for parents and community members Maximize efficiency through ▫ rerouting of phone calls into schools Implementation of phone scripts ▫ $$ and responses for staff
