Police Firing Range Internal process to develop revised option • Contacted the Staff at Collin County College’s Public Safety Training Center o Collin College’s new gun range opened in Fall 2018 o Collin College utilized G2 Solutions Inc. as the design firm for their gun range • City of Denton requested a proposal to develop a concept plan and operational requirements and contracted with G2 for consulting services • G2 provided concept plan options and project estimation in mid-July for PD review • It is staff’s opinion that the Gun Range can be bundled with the construction of the Police substation to realize economies of scale and minimize cost escalation 5

Police Firing Range • Indoor ranges are protected from weather, and provide sound mitigation, around the clock availability • Bullet traps/baffles are designed to protect from projectiles leaving the building • Baffles also provide sound mitigation • HEPA ventilation needed to protect from airborne lead particles and other combustion byproducts. 9
