  1. Review of Parent and Staff Survey Data on Reopening School September 9, 2020 9/10/2020

  2. How they were compiled • Survey was open from 12:30 pm on September 3 rd until 3:00 pm on September 7 th • Parents could enter responses for each student in their family. • If a response was submitted for a student more than once, the last submitted response was counted. • All responses were verified to be active K-12 students. • Submissions for inactive, preschool, and Scottsdale Online Learning students were not included in the analysis presented here. • Community Ed conducted its own survey of pre-k and preschool parents separately. 2

  3. Survey Questions I am prepared to return to full-time in-person learning at my home school (4 options). If given the choice, I would select the following learning model for my student at this time while Scottsdale Unified School District metrics are in “yellow” as determined by AZDHS metrics (3 options). 3

  10. Conclusions • The hybrid proposed on 9/1 does not have sufficient support to implement it • Our community is split equally between returning now and waiting • Given the level of readiness to return, a new potential solution for next steps surfaces. 10

  13. Themes • Safety and health protocols (mask wearing, cleaning, PPE, etc.) • Concerns about the hybrid and shifting models for teachers • Split (like our community) regarding returning in person 13

  14. ADHS Reopening Criteria Scenarios

  15. Recommendations 1. Implement a Phased-In Return to Learn in Person using the following schedule: • September 14—Special Education Special Programs and Pre-School (already in process) • September 21—K-2 • September 29—3-5 • October 5—FALL BREAK • October 12--Middle School and High School 2. Based on the data, a natural “hybrid” will result from those choosing to remain in EDL and those desiring to return in person. However, in order to manage the necessary staffing changes we will be asking people to commit through the end of the semester (December 18) 3. Continue using the ADHS benchmark metrics while acknowledging challenges with meeting all of the recommendations during hybrid implementation. 9/10/2020
