Fall NGR Non-REM Market Simulation Plan – 2012 • Tentative Market Simulation dates – Week 1: 9/4/12 – 9/7/12 • 1 week Non-Rem structured scenarios • 3 trade dates: 9/5, 9/6, 9/7 – Week 2: 9/10/12 – 9/14/12 • Allow market participants to analyze data • No scheduled scenarios – Week 3: 9/17/12 – 9/21/12 • 1 week Non-Rem unstructured scenarios • 3 trade dates: 9/19, 9/20, 9/21 Page 4

  5. NGR Registration Requirements • Type – Storage Resource or – Demand Response • Brief description of technology being modeled. – Other resources that operate as either generation or load and can be dispatched seamlessly within their entire capacity range • Model (See diagram: Show matrix) – Regulation Energy Management. (DR is only able to participate under the REM Model.) – Non-REM (Storage resource that can participate in Spin/Non-Spin, Energy, Regulation Up/Down) • Resource characteristics required on July 27, 2012 – Location: • address • substation name, voltage level – size (Pmin, Pmax) – Energy Limits: MWH (Upper and Lower limits if existing) – Technology (brief description of the technology) Note: A Complete Generator V6.5 Resources Data Template will be due prior to the September 4, 2012 Market Simulation. The ISO will work through your Scheduling Coordinator to complete this document. Page 5

  7. NGR – Regulation Energy Management Option NGR REM only resource option description • This is typically a 15min. resource. i.e. 0.25MWh • Demand response can utilize this model to participate in wholesale regulation • Brief description of how AGC signal is derived. • Brief description of 50% rule. http://www.caiso.com/Documents/Plans%20and%20schedule/2012ReleasePlan.pdf

  8. NGR – Non Regulation Energy Management Option NGR Non-Rem resource option description • This option allows a storage resource to participate in Energy, Spin/Non Spin and regulation Up/Down. • This option will be for the resources that have a long period of maintaining generation or load sides. • This option assumes a resource is continuous for more than 1 hour. In August the ISO will host a workshop with market participants to review the Market Simulation structured scenarios and discuss

  9. Next Steps • In August the ISO will host a workshop with market participants to review the Market Simulation structured scenarios and discuss technical details surrounding this project.
