What is Part 175? p Amendment to Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act of 1994 p Allows the DEQ to assess the amount of recycling in our state p Effective April 2016
Why Do We Need Part 175? p 2014 Governor Snyder Set Goal of doubling Michigan’s recycling rate p Confidential reporting of activities p Provides measurement of progress: Annual reports start in 2018.
Who is affected by Part 175? p Recycling establishments n Recyclers or brokers of reportable recyclable materials p Recycling- Defined n an action or process, such as separation, sorting, baling, or shipping, applied to reportable recyclable materials for the purposes of reuse or conversion into raw materials or new products.
