  2. RBA RBAW’S S BE BEGI GINNINGS GS Established in 1956 as the "Puget Sound Interclub Association”, we eventually adopted the current name, "Recreational Boating Association of Washington" in 1992. In the mid 1950's, RBAW raised the funds to purchase Sucia Island and donate it to the State for a Marine Park in an effort to stop plans for development of the area for vacation cabins.

RBAW TODAY • RBAW is the “Voice of Boaters” in Olympia backed by a professional lobbying and advocacy team • Founded RBAW Marine Park Conservancy to acquire and improve land and facilities in Washington and British Columbia • Participation by nearly 50 yacht clubs and more than 10k + boaters • Respected leader in a coalition of national and international boating organizations
