Who we are… • We are Indigenous people of Australia living and working in the desert. • We are from many different language groups • We are from 12 separate ranger groups with our own identity working in different country but we all work for the CLC • We have the responsibility of looking after country and carrying on our culture and passing on knowledge from our elders to future generations
Our Program Today …. § 12 CLC ranger groups now work from 14 remote communities with near 90 rangers employed § funding is mostly from the Australian Government NIAA and ILSC § an additional 3 emerging ranger groups are in development by the CLC, leveraging funding from 10 Deserts. § there is strong interest in communities for more ranger groups because of the importance of looking after country
