Cyber / Remote Learning Options Kindergarten – 5 th Grade Cyber Program § Students will be part of a cyber classroom with their own dedicated teacher; all instruction will be online. § Students will attend classes virtually via a live-instructional platform and access recorded video content. § Students will access their courses through the Schoology Learning Management System. § Students will follow a set schedule for each day (see sample schedule with details). § The program will focus on a balance of synchronous (live) and asynchronous (self- paced/offline) instruction and activities meant to meet students' needs. § Student engagement and interaction will be a major focus. 3

Schedule Sample Elementary A Balance of Synchronous (live) and Potential Live minutes Cyber Program Day Asynchronous (self-paced) Activities Potential Self-paced minutes Period 1 Live Morning Meeting Session A live morning meeting may last between 10-20 minutes or more depending Live potential 10-20 min 9:10 – 9:30 (all students) on the topic and teacher facilitation. Period 2 Live or Recorded Video ELA A teacher may decide to host a live ELA (English-Language Arts lesson) Live/Self-paced potential: 15-30 min 9:30 – 10:00 Whole Group Lesson or post a recorded lesson. A teacher will facilitate small-guided reading groups based on students’ levels. Live Live Guided Reading Groups Live potential: 15-20 min Period 3 reading groups will be approximately 15-20 minutes in length per group. When not supported with 10:00 – 11:15 meeting with the teacher, students will receive self-paced and independent activities asynchronous activities Self-paced/video: 45-60 min that may or may need to be done online. I/E Block: The Intervention and Enrichment block is used to provide students with needed This time could include a combination of Period 4 OT, PT, Speech, Instrumental Band services including: Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy; Band/Orchestra self-paced and live interaction based on 11:15 – 12:05 / Orchestra online lessons; lessons; and small targeted instructional group work (live or self-paced) based on student needs. Small group MTSS lessons student needs through the MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports). Period 5 Lunch and Recess (Home) 12:05 – 1:00 Period 6 Live or Recorded Video Math A teacher may decide to host a live Math lesson or post a recorded lesson. Live/Self-paced potential: 20-45 min 1:00 - 1:15 Whole Group Lesson A teacher will facilitate small-guided math groups based on students’ levels. Live Live Guided Math Groups Live potential: 15-20 min Period 7 math groups will be approximately 15-20 minutes in length per group. When not supported with 1:15 – 2:00 meeting with the teacher, students will receive self-paced and independent activities asynchronous activities Self-paced/video: 45-60 min that may or may need to be done online. Period 8 Specials will be facilitated in recorded reformat with intermittent live sessions that Live or Recorded Special Live/Self-paced potential: 20-45 min 2:00 – 2:45 could rotate over a weekly cycle Period 9 Recess / Science / Social Studies Social Studies and Science will be taught in both live and recorded formats based on Live/Self-paced potential: 20-30 min 2:45 – 3:15 rotation the content needs, grade levels, projects, etc. Period 10 Live Closing Circle Meeting A closing circle meeting may last between 10-20 minutes or more depending on the Live potential 10-20 min 3:15 – 3:30 Session (all students) topic and teacher facilitation. The total time that students may spend online will vary based on the grade level, content taught, balance of live/self-paced, and teacher facilitation. (2-4 live hours per day) 4

Progressive Reopening Approach A progressive reopening approach provides the district with: ü An opportunity to shift between program models based on emergent circumstances ü Collapsible cohorts to maintain social distancing and mitigate large groups ü The ability to change without logistical discussions and extensive planning during the school year ü The right approach at the right time 6

Evolving Guidance and Information § Case counts in Delaware County caused growing concern at the end of July. § Concerns of end-of-summer travel and Labor Day Weekend. § The evening of July 31 st , we received updated guidance from the Chester County Health Department. § The state of Pennsylvania provided new guidance on the morning of Updates and Mon. August 10 th to provide districts with a metric for decision- Changes making. § The Chester County Health Department issued new guidance on Friday, August 14 th . 12
