Qt 5.9 – Why will support be stopped? › Qt 5.9.0 was released 31st May 2017 › LTS release means it was supported for 3 years › Reaches EOL on 31st May 2020 › Since superseded by 2 LTS versions › 5.12 and 5.15 › Qt 5.9 was second LTS release in Qt 5 › Has had 9 releases in total › Qt 5.12 has 8 releases with more to come › Qt 5.15 just released with more to come 8 13 May 2020 Qt 5.9 LTS / Andy Shaw
Options moving forward › Option 1 – Move to Qt 5.15 LTS › Qt 5.15 is source and binary compatible with Qt 5.9 › Just a case of updating Qt to the latest Qt 5.15 version and compile and run › Qt 5.15 has a lot of new features over Qt 5.9 › New modules – Qt Network Authorization, Qt Speech, Qt WebGL Streaming Plugin, Qt Lottie, Qt Quick Timeline, Qt Quick 3D, Qt PDF › New platforms - Qt for WebAssembly › Support for OpenSSL 1.1 › Much improved HighDPI support › Plus many fixes in terms of stability 9 13 May 2020 Qt 5.9 LTS / Andy Shaw
