FAFSA Enhancements 2012-2013 • More filtering for questions • Definition of terms • IRS Data Transfer
Legal Guardianship Answer YES if student has copy of court’s decision that as of today in legal guardianship Answer YES if student has copy of court’s decision that he/she was in legal guardianship immediately before reaching age of adulthood Answer NO if student is still a minor and court decision is no longer in effect or was not in effect at the time student became an adult
Homeless Youth Determination A student is eligible for homeless youth status if he/she meets the homeless definition and was determined to be homeless by his/her high school or school district homeless liaison, the director of a runaway or homeless youth center, or HUD.
Examples of filtering that has been added to certain questions: Gender question will not let student proceed until this has been answered. This has to do with Selective Service. Enhanced high school code and college search to include broader spectrum such as city names and abbreviations.
