  8. Exciting projects for 2013 and beyond Inspired by Japan Family learning Programme with The Russell Cotes Museum and Bournemouth’s Children’s Centres. Project Aims: To demonstrate the value of cultural education in supporting family bonding • and relationships. To develop the family learning offer and wider learning products (including • outreach) linked to the Japanese collection, at Russell Cotes Project Outcomes: Families from disadvantaged local communities are able to engage with the • Russell Cotes Museum through cultural education activities. Benefits to families engaged with the programme include: opportunities for • family bonding and relationship building, learning new creative skills, increased self-esteem and enjoyment, development of cultural and historical understanding. • The volunteer base at Russell Cotes is extended and up-skilled to independently and effectively deliver outreach and storytelling sessions. • Cost £10,000 – contribution required approx £ 2000 and volunteer opportunities to support 36 parents and 72 children over an eight month period of exciting outreach and family based activity – with lasting legacy to continue in the future.

  9. Exciting projects to address the gaps and add value for 2013 and beyond : Kids Love Nature The Proposal This programme connects children and families to natural environments. The research evidence is overwhelming that when children have regular natural outdoor experiences, their physical and emotional wellbeing is greatly enhanced. This is also true for families as a whole. A series of visits to Avon Heath Country Park to experience the richness of the beautiful heathland habitat are central to the delivery of this programme. These sessions will be supported by the expertise of the Countryside Rangers and will develop and nurture a positive attitude towards natural outdoor experiences. Each visit will explore a different outdoor experience and feed into the following children’s centre session. These will be highlighted and explored during the training days and detailed in the staff packs. Children’s centre session will be supported by an activity plan.

  10. Exciting projects to address the gaps and add value for 2013 and beyond Parents Pack Universal Plus Engaging Families An opportunity to support the creation of a parents pack which will encourage parents of new babies to access children’s centre services

  11. Thank you for your time and support from everyone at Bournemouth Children’s Centres
