FO (LOCAL) Recommended Language Beginning with the 2017-2018 school year, all school-based faculty and staff shall receive ongoing, but no less than annual training in foundational and informational strategies, techniques, and tools from evidence-based disciplinary practices such as, but not limited to restorative practices, mindfulness, and positive behavior intervention support to increase a positive school climate and de-escalate disciplinary challenges to reduce and/or eliminate exclusionary consequences. 7
FO (LOCAL) Recommended Language Campus disciplinary data will be disaggregated and posted on the campus websites, in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines. 8
FO (LOCAL) Recommended Language In grades PK-2, the district shall use disaggregated disciplinary data to inform actions that will identify inequity and reduce the number and percentage of student in-school and out-of-school discretionary suspensions, except as required by law with the goal to eliminate discretionary suspensions by 2022-2023. 9
FO (LOCAL) Recommended Language All elementary campuses will be placed in a tiered system of support through an analysis of the campus and district discipline data. The District shall identify campuses that are in need of additional support based upon their tier. The tiered system of support will be outlined in FO (REGULATION). Language for FO (REGULATION) Tier definitions based on 2016-2017 school year PK – 2 nd grade in-school and out-of-school suspension data: Tier 1 – Schools with less than 6 suspensions Tier 2 – Schools with 6-14 suspensions Tier 3 – Schools with more than 14 suspensions 10
FO (LOCAL) Recommended Language The district shall report annually to the Board of Trustees on the implementation status of the tiered support system and disciplinary data. 11

2017-2018 Student Code of Conduct PK – 2 nd Grade Recommendations Level I Offenses Students in grades PK – 2 nd may not be suspended (in-school or out-of-school) for Level I Offenses. Level II Offenses Suspension (in-school or out-of-school) is only permissible for PK – 2 nd grade students that commit the same offense more than two times and the following interventions have been documented: Referral to Student Support Team (SST) Parent Conference (Request parent/guardian consent to referral for services from Psychological Services and/or Youth and Family) Assignment of Mentor (Internal) Suspensions will be limited to one (1) day for students in grades PK – 2 nd . Once the campus determines that an offense warrants a suspension following the third occurrence of the same offense, the principal must contact their respective executive director for permission to move forward with the one (1) day suspension. 13
Costs Associated PBIS: Approximately $1500 per campus Restorative Discipline: $250 per teacher and $1,000 per campus; dependent upon campus size Districtwide Training: Trainer of trainer model with one (1) day of training $47,600; however, possible solution is to conduct the training within the contract period 14
