Languages • Some colleges/courses require a student to study a language French/ Spanish • Arts in NUI – study 2 subjects jointly – English/History • Teaching – Primary & Secondary • Law UCD • Medicine • Veterinary • Some students may qualify for an exemption from a language requirement if they have a SLD • Institute of Technology - does not have same language requirement as University • Some universities have removed their language requirement for certain courses • Science/Engineering NUIG - No language needed

Special Educational Needs - Gary Boyle Continued support in LCVP / LCA / TY LCVP - Resource classes, reduced curriculum for some, study skills, after school classes in many subjects. LCA - Help with projects and portfolios and interview / presentation techniques. TY - Resource classes for those exempt from Irish / foreign language- help to catch up on other assignments. Great opportunity to sample subjects and make informed decisions. Accommodations in the Leaving Cert exams - applied for in 6th year. Often a reactivation of accommodations granted in Junior Cert exams but new applications may be made if criteria are met. Reports are required for all new applications.
