Parents’ Forum Presentation, 13.3.19
The Student Learning Forum currently comprises of eight Year 10 students who made successful applications as part of the school’s leadership programme. These are; Ellie Jackson, Grace Allistar, Isabella Jordan, Julia Concannon, Alisha Elliott, Ellen Furey, Chike Nwobodo and Annie Thomas.
The aim of the Student Learning Forum is to strengthen the learning experience in our school for both students and teachers alike, hence the logo and motto that members have developed:
The Student Learning Forum members have spent time researching factors that affect performance in education and compiled their findings in a way that would send a clear message to their peers. They developed the poster opposite, which is now displayed in all classrooms and communal areas around school, to develop understanding of how success in education can be achieved.
The Student Learning Forum members have also planned, prepared and delivered a professional development seminar for the school’s newly qualified teachers. The intention of this was to share learning strategies that students have found to be highly impactful. This was well received by the staff, who shared the feedback opposite:
The Student Learning Forum members are currently working on developing a noticeboard to keep students and staff updated about their work. They are also involved in researching effective ‘Starter’ activities for lessons, so that they can share a ‘Top 5 ’ with teachers.
