  2. PARCC ELA Grades 3-8

  3. Grade 3 ELA ● Higher percentage of students who require additional services ● Mean scale score for Readington is 9 points higher than the state ● Students are supported with intervention, in-class support and pull-out ELA programs as needed ● The district revised the ELA curriculum which will be implemented in the 2018-19 school year and continues to purchase resources to support all learners

  4. Grade 4 ELA ● This grade level is substantially smaller than others in the district and individual student scores will impact the overall achievement of the grade level more dramatically ● Historically this grade level has met expectations consistently ● Mean scale score for Readington is 10 points higher than the state ● The district will continue to monitor the progress of this cohort of students and support their instruction as needed in the areas indicated by our analysis of in-district assessments and standardized test scores

  5. Grade 5 ELA ● This grade level has shown substantial growth this year ● The increase in scores can be attributed to the hard work and dedication of our teaching staff and students ● The implementation of new teaching techniques and a curricular revision took place during the 2017-18 school year

  6. Grade 6 ELA ● 8% higher passing rate than the state ● 23% higher passing rate than the cross-state population ● Higher percentage of students who require additional services ● Students are supported with intervention, in-class support and pull-out ELA programs as needed ● A 6th grade honors program will launch in the 2018-19 school year to meet the needs of students who would benefit from an accelerated pace and a more in-depth exploration of content

  7. Grade 7 ELA ● This grade level has shown substantial growth this year ● The increase in scores can be attributed to the teachers’ commitment to providing challenging, high quality instruction and the dedication of our students ● This group of students participated in the launch of the 7th grade honors program as well as a variety of scheduling changes that increased the amount of instructional time available

  8. Grade 8 ELA ● This grade level has consistently performed well over time ● The staff continuously evaluates their teaching practices and adjusts them to meet the ever changing needs of their students ● The teachers of this grade level worked as a team within their content area and in cross-curricular groups to promote the generalization of literacy skills across a variety of academic settings
