Accessible Australia Australia adopted the DDA in 1992 and ratified the UN CRPD in 2008 Accessible information, transport, public buildings and services UN CRPD Article 9 – requires access on an equal basis to the physical environment, housing, transportation, information and communications – in both urban and rural areas. 2010 to 2020 National Disability Strategy – clear response to CRPD obligations . Policy Area 1 is Inclusive and Accessible Communities Non-accessible housing – impact on everyone / ageing in place / neighbourhoods Indigenous and remote communities / aged care etc 2017 government reforms and inquiry of retirement village standards PacRim 2017
