  2. The WHO, WHAT, WHERE & WHEN of the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) The Central Massachusetts Metropolitan Planning Organization (CMMPO), local stakeholders, public agencies, municipalities and the public. MPOs must create LRTPs that address topics such as policies, strategies and projects for the future; a systems level approach by considering roadways, transit, non-motorized transportation, and intermodal connections. The name of the CMMPO’s LRTP is Mobility2040 Mobility2040’s purpose is to identify the multi -modal transportation needs of the southern central Massachusetts region (highlighted in red). The span of the Mobility2040 covers 25 years – with an update every four years. The first iteration of Mobility2040 was in 2016, and currently the MPO is preparing the 2020 Update.

  3. AND HOW? The Mobility2040 plan is the result of an Compilation of staff work in broad range of areas: extensive process of public outreach to  Management Systems achieve community input on regional  Public Transit performance management goals and to  Performance-Based Planning & Programing prioritize resource allocation.  Environmental Consultation  Land Use, Public Health, Economic Development Chapter 1: Introduction and Background Chapter 2: Performance Management Chapter 3: Transportation Linkages Chapter 4: Transportation Modes Chapter 5: Summary of Needs and Analysis Chapter 6: Financial Plan Chapter 7: Air Quality (
