Purpose and Need • Trains volu lumes exp xpected to in increase from an average of two per day to 17 per day. • Train le lengths exp xpected to in increase from an average of 5,0 ,000 feet to 7,5 ,500 feet. • At current rates, vehic icle dela lays at the crossin ing will ill grow from 67 vehic icle-hours to 716 vehic icle le-hours. • Especiall lly in in the P.M .M. . peak hours, , the State Road 46/S.R. . 11 11 traffic sig ignal operates at unacceptable le levels of average dela lay per vehic icle. • The Purpose of this is proje ject is is to reduce vehic icula lar dela lays at both the train in crossing and the traffic sig ignal. l.
