HOURS OF SERVICE • Driver Work Hours Have Been Regulated Since the 1930s • US DOT Rules Limit Motorcoach Drivers to: 10 hours driving per day. Once the 10 hour driving limit is reached, they must have 8 consecutive hours off before driving again. 15 hours of on-duty time (includes non-driving activities). Once the 15 hours of duty time is reached, they must have 8 consecutive hours off. Driver may work up to 60 hours in a 7 day period or 70 hours in an 8 day period. These duty hours must be documented Exceeding these hours can result in a fine and are unsafe Very few exemptions to these rules
EL ELEC ECTR TRONIC ONIC LOGG OGGING ING DE DEVICE VICES • ELDs standardize devices used to monitor and maintain driver hours of service. • ELD vendors must be certified, registered, and listed on a FMCSA website. • December 18, 2017 – If not using any type of device, must start using an ELD. • December 16, 2019 – If they were already using an ELD, they get until this date to bring it into compliance with new standards.

Government agencies represented -DHS, TSA, FTA, FMCSA, NHTSA, DOD, DOL The group meets regularly to discuss issues, best practices and innovations in the areas of safety, regulatory compliance, mechanics, technology and security.
