GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS 30 Credits are required to graduate from Ozark HS Refer to page 2 in your Course Planner
BLOCK SCHEDULING SAMPLE FRESHMAN SCHEDULE • A DAYS & B DAYS • 5 CLASSES A DAY • 4 ACADEMIC CLASSES (APPROX. 90 MIN.) • 1 ADVISORY PERIOD (30 MIN.) – NO ADVISORY ON FRIDAYS
HOW STUDENTS ARE PLACED INTO COURSES • STUDENTS ARE DIVIDED INTO 8 SCHEDULING GROUPS BASED ON ATTENDANCE. • STUDENTS ARE CALLED TO A CENTRALIZED LOCATION BY SCHEDULING GROUP TO ENTER COURSE REQUESTS INTO SIS (LAST WEEK OF FEBRUARY). • COUNSELORS AND ADMINISTRATION RUN A REPORT BASED ON COURSE REQUESTS TO HELP CREATE A MASTER SCHEDULE. • MASTER SCHEDULE IS ENTERED INTO SIS. • STUDENTS SCHEDULES ARE COMPUTER GENERATED BY THEIR COURSE REQUESTS. • IF A CONFLICT OCCURS WITH ELECTIVES, THE COUNSELOR WILL REFER TO THE STUDENT’S COURSE REQUEST FORM, AND SCHEDULE THE STUDENT INTO THEIR NEXT ALTERNATIVE CHOICE. IF NECESSARY, STUDENT WILL BE CONTACTED.
SCHEDULE CHANGES SINCE THE NUMBER OF COURSES AND SECTIONS ARE PRIMARILY BASED ON STUDENT REQUEST, AND STUDENTS ARE PERMITTED TO SELECT AN ALTERNATIVE COURSE IF A CONFLICT OCCURS OR A CLASS CLOSES, THE NEED FOR A SCHEDULE CHANGE SHOULD BE ELIMINATED. THEREFORE, ONCE AN OFFICIAL SCHEDULE HAS BEEN MADE, A STUDENT MAY CHANGE HIS/HER SCHEDULE ONLY UNDER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS: • CONFLICTS APPEARING ON COMPUTER SCHEDULES. • CHANGES NEEDED TO SATISFY GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS ON TIME. • FAILURE OF A PREREQUISITE COURSE. • CHANGES REQUIRED FOR THE HEALTH OF STUDENT. (DOCTOR’S RECOMMENDA TION NECESSARY) • SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE COURSE IN SUMMER SCHOOL. • INAPPROPRIATE PLACEMENT AS DETERMINED BY TEACHER/COUNSELOR CONSULTATION.
