The plan was to use LSMW  LSMW scripts kept failing  US ABAP programmer working EU hours to help  Ended up loading material master data for 22.000 materials in 11 plants using CATT’s .  Nerve recking, great fun and good experience!  10

Downloaded and tried a demo version  Thought well of it  Couldn’t gain support or interest from corporate SAP management at the time  Winshuttle on hold  11

Complex interfaces. Not sutible for end users.  Recording more complex.  Needs to be transported to be available in all SAP instances.  Line numbers need to be inserted manually in the load sheets.  Error messages and error processing complex.  16

Documen entatio ion   One of the main differences between Winshuttle and XYZ is the access method to  documentation. For Winshuttle it is web based, for XYZ it is embedded in the program.  Winshuttle  All documentation is easy to find and easily accessible via http://www.winshuttle.com/.  A product manual, and step by step guides for a number of transactions exists. The quality is  really good. Another nice feature is a knowledge database. Also a quick Q&A function is available. On Youtube there is material to be found on Winshuttle.  XYZ  Going in through XYZ portal http://www.xyz.com/ doesn’t give you very much help if you are a  user looking for help. Most information here seems to be product/sales related. On Youtube there is no material to be found on XYZ.  The embedded documentation is good. Walk troughs are general but ok.   Conclusion on documentation:  I would say that Winshuttle is the better of the two. There is just more of it, and it is easier to  navigate. Also the knowledge base is useful, and more information can be found on the internet than for XYZ. I would also have to assume, that online information is in general more up to date than embedded. 19

 Although Winshuttle was determined to be the desired product, a decision to purchase and use at a corporate level could not be reached at the time.  Permission was granted for Meneta to purchase a developers license locally.  RBDK liked what they saw and purchased a Runner license locally.  Meneta purchased an extra Runner license.  India purchased a Runner license.  MAT purchased a Runner license for one of the companiesat corporate HQ. 21

The maybe not so obvious case Case at RBDK, where license costs might not be covered by transaction hours saved, but how a runner license made the company more than happy because it has all but eliminated a bottle neck in master data maintenance, and helper streamline the process of master data creation. The comment from the user:  ” Normally software is something I feel we pay too much for. Winshuttle is the first software I have used where I feel I’m getting my monies worth.” 23

MAT expanded the use of Winshuttle to India and the US • MAT IT wiki site (tour) MAT IT wiki • Improved master data quality due to fewer keying errors • Faster updating / maintenance of data • MAT plans to expand the use of Winshuttle in the US and India. • A possible corporate change to a central solution integrated with SharePoint • A possible reduction in the number of SAP license required? • 24
