Brief History of NSS • Conceived by Mahatma Gandhi and Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Edu. Min. Dr. V.K.R.V.Rao • Initiation in India: 24 September 1969 • Under the aegis of: Ministry of youth affairs and sports, Govt. of India • Universities= 298, Colleges= 9000, Volunteers= 32,00,000 • Initiation in Dr. BAMU: 1970-71 • Districts= 4, Colleges= 220, POs= 370, Volunteers= 3600
Purpose • To sensitize the youth regarding social problems • To empower the youth to work for the upliftment of the society • To provide opportunity to the youth for self- development and personality development through community activity

Jayashri Somase, MD, V.V.Pet Polymers, Valuj, Aurangabad in the presence of Dr. S. G. Gupta Director, Govt. Inst. Forensic Science, Aurangabad, Dr. Mrs. H. J. Wankhede, Director, Inst. of Science, Aurangabad – rejuvenation of Check Dam in Pahadsingpura, cleaning the site, desilting, increasing catchment area for water, increasing height of dam, pitching work, diverting rain water into the catchment area.

Dilip Thorat, Chairman, Sthayi Samiti, Aurangabad Municipal Corporation, Aurangabad Cultural program included 1 hr. yoga session daily in the morning and street plays in Aurangabad city on the theme of preventing female foeticide .
