Introduction Mount Everest, like the rest of the Himalayas, rose from the floor of the ancient Tethys Sea. The range was created when the Eurasian continental plate collided with the Indian subcontinental plate about 30 to 50 million years ago.
Facts ● It is the highest mountain on earth with a height of 8,848m above the sea level
● The Mount Everest was formed nearly 60 million years ago
● The mountain is named after Sir George Everest, a British general of India
● Edmund Hillary & Sherpa Tensing Norgay where the first to reach the summit of Mt. Everest
● Every 1 person out of 10 successful climbers reach the peak of the Mount Everest but die there.
● The wind on this mountain blows at a speed of 200 miles per hour or 321.869 kilometers per hour.
● Can you imagine that there are around 200 corpses on the mountain and weird thing is that these corpses end up helping other climbers to find the routes and as waypoints? ●
● It was Reinhold Messner who was the first to climb Everest all alone and with no oxygen. He achieved this great feat in 1980. ●
A species of spider named “Euophrys omnisuperstes” which translates into “standing above everything” is found on Mount Everest.
● The oldest man to climb Mount Everest is an 80-year- old Yuichiro Miura. He is a citizen of Japan.
Conclusion Mt Everest is a very dangerous mountain and it is important people take climbing it seriously. It is really cold up there but the pictures are really beautiful.
