  2. What is a potential graduate?  A potential grad is a student who has completed courses or is enrolled in all of the courses which are required for them to graduate. What is a transcript? This is a record of student's marks that have  been earned by the student either at Avon View High School, through summer school, correspondence, virtual school studies or transferred credits from another school.

  3. How can I learn about important opportunities, bursaries, jobs, upcoming events, open house events, etc. ?  School Website under ‘STUDENT SERVICES’ tab – visit often!

  4. Courses you must complete in order to graduate: (Report card/powerschool credit count is NOT always accurate!) English – grades 10, 11 & 12 3 credits Mathematics – grades 10 & 11 2 credits Science – grade 10 & one other 2 credits Social Studies – one 1 credit Global Studies – one 1 credit Physical Education 1 credit Fine Arts – one 1 credit Technology, Math or Science – two 2 credits Electives – five in addition to the above 5 credits Total 18 credits dits Please note – no more than 7 grade 10 courses will be counted AND you must have at least 5 grade 12 courses. *I *It is the responsi ponsibil bility ity of the student dent to assure re all cr credit it requirements irements have e been met.

  5. Course drops and the impact on a student’s transcript: To drop a first semester course: before October 2 nd , no visible impact on  transcript. After October 2 nd , WD (withdrawn) will appear on the student’s transcript next to the course name. Last day to drop a yearlong course without a WD showing on transcript:  October 22 nd Last possible day to drop a course for 1 st semester: December 18 th  Course changes for 2 nd semester: Before December break  Can I upgrade a course mark or repeat a course next semester if I am not successful? Unfortunately, in most cases, no. Many courses in the 2 nd semester are  presently full to capacity. The student would re-take the course next year. This can potentially delay graduation.
