Day 1 Camp Schedule ● Bus to Islington then ferry to Islington Bay (Motutapu Island) ● Tramp to Sandy Bay via Administration Bay for lunch and swim ● Tramp to Home Bay via military observation points and tunnels ● Arrive at Home Bay, pitch tents, prepare dinner, followed by evening activities Day 2 ● Breakfast followed by fishing Pack up camp, lunch, then tramp back to ● ferry

  4. Food Menu Cooking Groups Day 1: Student will be placed into groups of 6 by their teacher. They will cook for each other Lunch: Cut lunch to be brought from home in these groups. Dinner: Sausages (or Vege patties); Mashed Potatoes; NB: Special dietary needs will be taken Peas into consideration for vegetarian and gluten free options. Dessert: Pancakes and Milo Day 2: Breakfast: Muesli and Milo Lunch: Noodles with vegetables; Cream Crackers; Biscuits and Juice

Skills Outline Knowledge and Essential Skills Specific Skills Social Skills Understanding Problem Solving Skills (initiative Fire lighting; cooking on a gas Working cooperatively within a Land formations group and critical thinking) cooker; pitching a tent; basic first aid; packing a backpack; Maori perspective Division of labour and weight cooperative sharing of tasks; Self Management (self tramping sense discipline and taking Importance of conservation Responsibility to larger groups responsibility for own actions and those less able/fit and decisions)

  6. A detailed gear list has been sent home and should be adhered to fully Gear PE gear is to be worn on the first day Hat and suntan lotion are essential! All gear is to be brought to school the previous day in a named bag Phones and digital devices are allowed for photographic purposes only. They will be stored in the main tent upon arrival at camp The school provides the packs. Gear will be checked off prior to packing into the back pack. It is each child’s responsibility to carry all of their own gear for the trip Food will also be distributed out amongst the students

  7. RAMS and Long range weather forecast Emergency checked beforehand Procedures All teachers and trip parents will have class medical list and Emergency Numbers list First Aid Kits at all times All potential scenarios and situations accounted for in the RAMS forms held by all teachers

  8. History and stories Early history of Maori and European settlement and involvement on Motutapu Island will be discussed throughout the tramp, allowing students to have a comprehensive camping experience. Stories from these early days will also be told, bringing the island to life.
