Simple steps save energy – Use dishwashers for full loads only – Wash clothes in cold water – Showers use half the energy of a bath – Vacuum cooling coils on refrigerator/freezer monthly – Use microwave instead of the oven – Turn down the thermostat six degrees – Seal air leaks – Open drapes during the day; close them at night – Keep heat vents clear of clutter and debris – Replace furnace filter every month – Keep fireplace damper closed when not in use – Set water heater temperature to 120 degrees Fahrenheit or less
