  2. How do I get the Mobile APP? The Michaelhouse Old Boys Mobile APP is available via 3 sources: 1. Download via the APP Store – Apple Users 2. Download via the Google Play Store – Android Users 3. Via a website URL on a laptop or desktop.

  3. Downloaded, now what? The Michaelhouse Old Boys APP is a closed application – meaning that registration will need to be vetted in order to gain access. The APP is for Michaelhouse Old Boys & Honorary Old Boys only. REGISTRATION Details include your basic personal information, as well as your Boarding House and whether you would like to receive a hard copy or digital copy of the St Michael’s Chronicle. GROUP Selection subscribes you to specific mailing lists and communications. At the very least we suggest you select your LEAVING YEAR and BRANCH. Once you have been vetted, you will receive an email confirmation that you are now able to use the APP - Please check your Junk Mail to be sure.

  5. Notifications Notifications works as a basic messaging system, allowing PUSH notifications to pop up when they are sent. This takes the form of announcements and important information which Old Boys may need to know. Notifications are fully searchable.

  6. Events The Events module allows us to load branch events and affords users the opportunity to RSVP directly from the APP. At present, there is an option to make ZAPPER payments but we will soon be integrating with a payment system exclusively for the APP itself. The events module offers Google map and Google calendar integration as well as full contact information for the Old Boy coordinating the event.

  7. News The News module also operates from a PUSH notification basis, whereby users will be notified immediately of any new Old Boys News items. This includes the Rector’s eNews (if you are subscribed to that mailing), the Old Boys Club Secretary monthly news, Old Boys President newsletter and any other Branch newsletters which are circulated. Once again, these are all fully searchable.

  8. Resources The resources module serves as a repository for videos, images and documents. Videos can be viewed via YouTube, images from functions and events created into galleries and viewed as well as important documents such as constitutions or citations stored. Any items stored under resources may be added directly to a Google Drive folder if you wish.

  9. Sport The sports module works directly with SOCS, our school sports system. You are able to view teams lists, upcoming and past fixtures as well as results. Should you want to follow certain teams, you are able to FAVOURITE teams for easier access to information. We do have a SOCS How to Guide if you wish to receive a copy.

  10. Heritage As with the Sports Module, the Heritage Module is linked directly to the Online Archive. This is an online resource which is available to the public and which holds a selection of Michaelhouse images as well as St Michael’s Chronicles. You will need to register to use this facility and access the information. Once registered, you may SEARCH according to name, year or other categories. Any images or manuscripts (book) which include those items will show as search results.

  11. Business This module aims to provide a platform to all Old Boys to list their businesses according to industry. In order to get your business listed, we require that you complete the Business Listing Form and return it to us along with your Business Logo and one additional image. The Business Listings module is fully searchable, so you can either find a business based on industry (perhaps you are looking for a lawyer or financial expert) or you know the business name and you can search that way. Each business listing includes the name of the business name, logo and an image. A few lines on the business, business address (Google maps integration), Old Boy business owner (Boarding house and years included), contact details, social media and website links.

  13. Appeals The appeals module is a way to offer Old Boys opportunities to give back in a variety of ways. Not only in terms of finances but also perhaps in expertise or contacts. Any needs will be communicated via this module and will be left to Old Boys to participate therein on a voluntary basis.

  14. Job Opportunities As part of our networking and connection goal, we are looking to assist both business owners who may be looking to employ and job seekers looking for work. Any Old Boy business owners are able to list any job vacancies within their business including contract or part time employment, student work experience, graduate programmes or internships.Vacancies can be emailed to robgru@michaelhouse.org for upload.

  15. Launching soon..! Dedicated Community Partnership Module detailing all outreach projects & involvement in the local Michaelhouse Community. New user interface and upgrades to the Mobile APP LinkedIn capability to connect directly with other Old Boys without the disclosure of personal information.
