Dropping off and collecting your child
Dropoff (KS1) • Children can be dropped off at either the Kempe Road or the Harvist Road entrance • These gates open at 08:30 and close at 08:50 • Lunchbox trolleys are located by the entrance to Harvist Road • Children enter the building through the tunnel by Harvist Road • Co-teachers are on the doors and in cloakrooms from 08:30 until 08:50 to support the children at the start of the day • Entrance via the school office after 08:50
Pickup (KS1) • Gates open at 15:10 • Children can be collected between 15:10 and 15:30 from their classrooms • Lunchbox trollies are located between Year 1 and 2 classrooms • At 15:30, children will be taken to the office for late collection
Sport at Franklin
PE Day (Year 1) • Our PE day is on a Monday • Children should come into school on this day in their PE Kit
PE Kit • Summer & Indoor • White polo shirt with Ark Franklin logo Black shorts • Winter & Outdoor • Purple sweatshirt and white polo shirt with Ark Franklin logo, plus plain grey jogging bottoms • For PE appropriate footwear is essential: trainers (velcro fastening for EYFS and KS1) should be worn.
Swimming? • Swimming is currently taught in Year 3 and Year 4 at Moberley Leisure Centre
Sports in PE (Year 1) • Autumn 1: Multi-sports • Autumn 2: Throwing and Catching • Spring 1: Dance • Spring 2: Gymnastics • Summer 1: Football • Summer 2: Athletics
Franklin’s Uniform
Uniform • Our uniform identifies us as a community and reinforces our culture of high expectations and academic achievement. All pupils are expected to dress in full school uniform as this is a very important part of our ethos and culture.
Our Uniform • Ark Franklin sweater or cardigan • White shirt – short or long-sleeved depending on the weather • School tie • Grey skirt, trousers, shorts or pinafore • In the summer term there is also the option to wear our purple and white gingham dress with logo, or our purple polo shirt with logo • Grey, purple or white tights or socks • Ark Franklin blazer for pupils in Years 5 & 6

Homework
Homework • Children will receive weekly spellings homework on a Thursday • They are also expected to read daily for 20min a night • You should note in your child’s reading record that you have heard them read that evening • Additional homework will be set by class teachers according to identified needs.
School Library
School Library • Children visit the school library each week and can borrow one book at a time from here • Please ensure that this book is taken care of – we have to ask for you to pay for the book should it get damaged

Communication
Communication • We believe that links between home and school are key, as it is by working in partnership that our children’s education will be more successful. • Class teachers are available for brief communication at the end of the day at pickup – please organise a meeting for a longer conversation • If you would like to see your child’s class teacher in person, then you can do so by contacting the office or the class teacher directly to arrange a mutually agreeable appointment time. • We would ask that you limit emails to between the hours of 7.00am and 6.00pm, Monday to Friday, term time only.
