  8. MT Technical and Tactical Periodization (Backwards Design #1) 1. Establish Standards, core values, and teams goals first. –4-3-3 Barcelona model. Domination of Possession, 5 second defending, and attractive soccer. –Students that are prepared for college and act professionally in the classroom. –#setthestandard on and off the field. Values of Humility, trust, belief, courage, perseverance, team first, must relate to the style and standard of play. –Establish, model, and foster a professional culture and environment in the classroom and on the field. The way we look, act, feel, play. –Detail oriented. No detail is too small. –Build relationships and focus on the individual player. •Individual Development Plans. (Efrain Balleza – Danny Alves…)

  13. AW Professional Player Development • As a staff, we meet with every player, on every team, every season. • Additionally; Varsity players have a mid- season informal evaluation • Players self-evaluate, coaches evaluate, discussions occur, and an IDP (Individual development plan) is suggested. • Within a week, players submit their post- eval form (action plan). • Game film is provided for review, and an emphasis put on watching/taking notes • Hudl (records viewing time for each player)

  14. AW

  15. AW Off-Season Development and Opportunities • The season’s only 3 months; the other 9 months are critical • Players discuss their IDP’s with club coaches (credibility & relationships with clubs matter...work together as much as possible.) • Establish club connections and be involved when possible • Coaching education, coach teams, work camps, attend clinics, etc. • Summer Camp options/6v6 leagues/Speed & Agility/etc. • Youth camp/team camp • College overnight camp • College ID Showcase • 6v6 summer league

  16. AM Vertical Integration Style of Play • Varsity through C-Team play the same way • C-team does not punt, plays short on goal kicks, and works to possess • JV punts rarely, plays short on all goal kicks, and works to possess • Varsity plays out of the back and looks to play quick and dominate possession • 3 halves- Used Frequently • Practices are adapted to level, but topics are same • Varsity through C-team follows the same pre-season progression • Varsity coach sends out weeks practice plans and players needed • JV and C-Team coach adapt as needed

  17. AM Vertical Integration Culture- Details Matter • Every player wears the same gear • C-team through Varsity (everyone looks the same) • No one is above team • Each player gets off bus at same time • Expectations same for players Varsity through C-Team • Walk as one onto field from locker room or bus • Evaluations and IDPs • Same process for each team • Each coach gives eval to EVERY PLAYER • IDPs are tracked as a player moves from team to team
