The Process Secretary of State’s Office serves as the administrator of the Citizens Redistricting Commission Phase I: Application period (Fall 2019 to June 1, 2020) Phase II: Selection of commissioners (June 1 to Sept. 1, 2020) Phase III: Redistricting Commission seated (Fall 2020 to fall 2021) 5
Who’s eligible? You must be a Michigan registered voter Redistricting Commission must be politically balanced 4 Associated with the Democratic Party 4 Associated with the Republican Party 5 Self-identified as unaffiliated Who’s ineligible? o Any partisan political officials * o Candidates * o Registered lobbyists * o An officer or member of the governing body of a national, state, or local political party* *And any of their employees or close relatives 6

Finalizing the maps November 1st, 2021 Commission must adopt final maps Dec. 31, 2021 Maps become law Jan. 1, 2022: Maps take effect for 2022 elections 9
