Distinguished Level of Achievement ● Successfully completing the curriculum requirements for the Foundation High School Program Completing at least one endorsement ● ● Completing 4 credits in English, 4 credits in Science and 4 credits in math to include Algebra 2. To qualify for Top 10% Automatic Admissions, students must graduate at the Distinguished Level of Achievement. 10
Performance Acknowledgements Students may earn performance acknowledgement for outstanding performance in/on one of the following: 1. Dual Credit Courses 2. AP Exam 3. PSAT, SAT, ACT 4. Bilingualism or Biliteracy 5. Obtaining a national or internationally business or industry certification or license. 11
CREDIT RECOVERY OPTIONS ▪ Credit Recovery Exam – failing grade in course is between 60-69% ($25 per exam). Exams are given at MHS with Credit Recovery Teacher. ▪ Online Credit Recovery (Edgenuity) – failing grade in course below 60%. ▪ Enrolled in a credit recovery class during the school day. ▪ Work can be done after school/from home as well. Test must be taken at MHS. ▪ Lab is open Monday and Friday from 3:00-5:00 Library Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 3:00-5:00 Rm. C120 ▪ Grades earned via credit recovery options will be recorded on the student's transcript, but will not be calculated into the student's GPA. Edgenuity is not an approved non-traditional course option with NCAA. Student athletes are encouraged to re-enroll in any failed course.

MANVEL HIGH SCHOOL GPA/RANK Preliminary Rank : 542 Seniors (June 2017) ▪ 1 st Quarter (1 - 135) ▪ 2 nd Quarter (136 - 270) ▪ 3 rd Quarter (271 - 405) ▪ 4 th Quarter (406 - 542) Rank is based on the 6.0 weighted grading scale Final GPA/Ranking will be done in April 2018. Valedictorian/Salutatorian and Top 10% will be finalized in April 2018
ARTICULATION CREDIT ▪ Alvin ISD has an Articulation Agreement with Alvin Community College. ▪ These courses allow students to earn college credit while in high school. ▪ Students must have a final passing grade of 80% or higher to be able to earn the credit. ▪ These credits will ONLY transfer with students attending Alvin Community College after they graduate from high school ▪ These credits will not automatically go on the student's college transcript. Your student must apply for articulation credit at ACC within the first 15 months after graduating from high school. ▪ Articulated Credit Courses are NOT Dual Credit courses

TESTING & FEE WAIVERS College Entrance exams are: SAT – apply at sat.collegeboard.org ACT – apply at actstudent.org Depending on the school you are applying to or the major you are selecting you may also want and need to take an SAT Subject Test . If you are eligible for free/reduced lunch you will be eligible for fee waivers for the following: SAT, ACT, NCAA Eligibility Center and some college applications
APPLYING ▪ Apply Texas for in-state schools - applytexas.org ( Texas A&M, Univeristy of Houston, UT Austin) ▪ Common Application for out-of-state schools commonapp.org/ ( Rice, Southern Methodist, Texas Christian University) ▪ If your school is not on either of these networks- you will need to visit the school website for application instructions ▪ Open Enrollment – Junior colleges, 2 year schools ▪ Holistic Review process – During holistic review, we consider academic achievement, personal achievement, and special circumstances (UT Austin). ▪ Early Decision plans are binding — a student who is accepted as an ED applicant must attend the college. ▪ Early Action plans are nonbinding — students receive an early response to their application but do not have to commit to the college until the normal reply date of May 1. ▪ Early applications look favorable and may be considered for scholarships
