How to make a Bird Feeder
You will need: Clean yoghurt pot(s) Saucepan Spoon Cooking fat Bird Seed String Screw driver An adult (instrument to make a hole in the base of the yoghurt pot)
Step 1 . Ask an adult to melt the fat in a sauce pan. . Add the bird seed and stir the mixture to make sure all the bird seed is covered.
Step 2 . Use a small screw driver to make a little hole in the bottom of the yoghurt pot – big enough to poke the string through. . Poke the string through the hole and tie a knot to secure
Step 3 . Allow to cool slightly. . Fill the yoghurt pots with the bird seed and fat mixture. . Allow to cool in the fridge.
Step 4 . Once set carefully cut the yoghurt pot (be careful not to cut the string!) . Find a place in your garden to hang your bird feeders and watch the birds enjoy!
Challenge 1) Count how many birds visit 2) Can you name your bird feeder any of the birds? in 10 minutes.
