Mandating timeline 1 • Draft mandate strategy – advertised Dec 2017 • Submissions 2018 and Engagement Hui • Amended mandate strategy was approved by Runanga Feb 2019 • Mandate Hui held May 2019, including postal vote by registered MPWCT members and those not registered but with verified whakapapa to Mōkai Pātea . • Vote was successful: 80% in favour. Thank you to all those who supported • Further amendments to Draft Mandate based on feedback during Mandate Hui and further consultation with Runanga including NHNPHT.
Mandating timeline 2 Draft Deed of Mandate advertised 16 th May 2020 and open for • submissions. • Due to the effects of Covid-19 this three week process was extended to four weeks to 5pm 15 th June. • The Crown then allowed a further 2 week extension for those who specifically requested a time extension. • We await the results to be advised by the Crown. • Thanks to all those who supported us in this process.
Communication Strategy • Communication with Claimants • Communication with Registered Members of MPWCT • Communication with Runanga and Runanga delegates • Information Hui – Whanganui and Turangi • Marae Engagement strategy • Specific Engagement with Ngati Hinemanu on a Hapū basis Hui a- Hapū for Ngati Hinemanu held on 16 March 2019. o Ongoing communication with Ngati Hinemanu ki Omahu. o • Engagement with NHNPHT Four facilitated hui in 2018 between MPWCT and NHNPHT. o MPWCT agreed to allow Heritage Trust to present their view at all mandate hui – June 2019 o Heritage Trust challenged the voting processes for the Mandate. The Crown rejected those o allegations. MPWCT Zoom hui engagement with NHNPHT - 24 th April 2020. o NHNPHT have now advised they wish to withdraw their Wai Claims. o
