HEALTHCARE COALITIONS OVERVIEW ▪ Hospital Preparedness Program ▪ HPP directs program activities (HPP): Only source of federal through Healthcare funding that supports regional Preparedness and Response healthcare system Capabilities (2017-2022): preparedness. ▪ Cap 1: Foundation for healthcare and medical ▪ HPP directs the development of readiness regional healthcare coalitions ▪ Cap 2: Healthcare and (HCCs) that incentivize diverse medical response and often competitive coordination healthcare organizations with different priorities and ▪ Cap 3: Continuity of objectives to work together. HCC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ▪ HCCs serve as multiagency ▪ Healthcare Coalitions have a diverse composition: coordination groups that support and integrate with ESF-8 ▪ Hospitals* ▪ Public health* ▪ Collaborate on healthcare emergency ▪ EMS* response and recovery planning, training, and exercising. ▪ Emergency management* ▪ Behavioral health ▪ Response actions include: ▪ Non-governmental organizations ▪ Information sharing (e.g., American Red Cross) ▪ Resource coordination and ▪ Outpatient providers (e.g., management ambulatory surgical care centers, FQHCs) ▪ Skilled nursing and long-term care ▪ Support service providers (e.g., blood banks, medical examiners)
