I. In the garden, history is made

Mt. of Olives in the Old Testament  King David mourned on the Mt. of Olives  Solomon was anointed king in the area of the Mt. of Olives

Zechariah 14:4 prophecy Jesus to return on the Mt. of Olives

Mt. of Olives in the New Testament  Jesus spent much time on this mount.  Jesus taught his disciples there (Matt. 24 and Mark 12).  Jesus prayed there in the Garden of Gethsemane  Jesus ascended from their into heaven.

II. In the garden, the true king is revealed

“Blessings on the king who comes in the name of the Lord. Peace in heaven and glory in the highest heaven,” they shouted (v. 38).

Jesus weeps If only you knew on this of all days the things that lead to peace. But now they are hidden from your eyes ” (v. 42).

“ They [your enemies] won’t leave one stone on top of another within you, because you didn’t recognize the time of your gracious visit from God” (v. 43-44).

III. In the garden, an invitation is given. Full Surrender to the King
