What are our objectives? International Trade:- Rest of UK and International Identify, understand and prioritise existing and potential outbound/export and learning opportunities:- • For industry sub-sectors in developing markets • For low carbon built environment materials, products and services with closely aligned performance and accreditation standard for supply chain • Identifying import substitution opportunities aligning the sector to identify opportunities to target growth include the trade and investment agenda Inward investment:- • develop/strengthen strategic engagement with important existing inward investors • Identify and develop a plan to capitalise on market gaps/unmet needs and targeted attraction of new investment Achieve by:- • a targeted development programme • Analyse and share market trends • Greater collaboration • Identifying niche opportunities and markets • Capitalising on existing Scottish networks
Achievements • Draft Memorandum of Understanding being worked up with Construction Industry Council in Hong Kong • Learning journey to China and Hong Kong in November 2013 • Information exchange at International forums at Ecobuild 2013
Future plans • Finalise Hong Kong Memorandum of Understanding • Follow ups on China & Hong Kong learning journey • Nordic learning journey • Japan learning journey • North America learning journey • International Trade/Export Event • Increased presence at Ecobuild • Potential Memorandum of Understanding with Canada and other sectors To get you all involved!
