  5. A SPIRIT PRAYER Rush upon us O Spirit of God! From this time on, rush upon us, like living water, like leaping fire, like fresh breath through an open window. For this time, rush upon us, O Holy Spirit, with wisdom and knowledge, with understanding and counsel, with wonder and recognition and awe. 5

  6. Just in time, rush upon us O Spirit of God, in life-giving words, in songs from the voiceless, in a passion for witness. At this time, rush upon us, O Holy Spirit, this hopeful time, this searching time, this preparing time, this coming and going time, this trusting time, this new time, this full time. ALL THE TIME, rush upon us, O Spirit of God! 6

  7. Profoundly personal Essential community relationship with God component Church of all the baptised All vital! 7

  9. 9

  10. “My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you! During your times of trial and suffering when you saw only one set of footprints, it was then I carried you.” 10

  11. Acts 9:1-19 “Brother Saul, the Lord — Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here — has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” 11

  12. Luke 24:13-35 “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?” 12

  13. Like branches on a tree, we all grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one 13

  14. Deus Caritas Est : “Being a Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction.” ( § 1) 14

  15. Evangelii Gaudium : “I invite all Christians, everywhere, at this very moment, to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ, or at least an openness to letting him encounter them; I ask all of you to do this unfailingly each day. No one should think that this invitation is not meant for him or her, since no one is excluded from the joy brought by the Lord.” ( § 3) 15

  16. Some questions we might set ourselves • What have I come to know of God for myself – that is by conviction, in an experiential way and how does this experience shape my approach to life and the lives of others? • Where or how am I energised/inspired/hope-filled in my efforts to respond to the call to be a disciple of Christ? • Where or how am I challenged in my efforts to respond to the call to be a disciple of Christ? 16

  17. What are you thinking? What are you feeling? 17
