SPIRITUAL LONELINESS ABSENCE OF GOD
Through the whole Bible, we can see ORDINARY PEOPLE doing EXTRAORDINARY THINGS because God was with them.

John 13-17 LAST WORDS Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father… (John 13.1)
John 13-17 LAST WORDS “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.” (John 14.12) Whaaaaaat?
John 13-17 LAST WORDS “I will not leave you as orphans.” (John 14.18)
John 13-17 LAST WORDS “ I will ask the Father, and he will give you ANOTHER HELPER, to be with you forever.” (v.16) PARAKLETOS — called to one’s side
PARAKLETOS ‣ Comforter (KJV) ‣ Counselor (RSV) ‣ Helper (ESV, NASB) ‣ Advocate (NIV, NLT) ‣ Friend (The Message)
“A parakletos might be a person called in to give witness in a law court in someone’s favour; he might be an advocate called in to plead the cause of someone under a charge which would issue in serious penalty; he might be an expert called in to give advice in some difficult situation; he might be a person called in when, for example, a company of soldiers were depressed and dispirited to put new courage into their minds and hearts. Always a parakletos is someone called in to help in time of trouble or need.” — William Barclay
‣ COMFORTS when we are sad THE PARAKLETOS ‣ STRENGTHENS when we are IS THE ONE weak WHO ‣ MOTIVATES when we are discouraged ‣ GUIDES when we have doubts ‣ CORRECTS when we are wrong
Jesus is the FIRST PARAKLETOS “My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an ADVOCATE with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” 1 John 2.1
The Holy Spirit is the “ANOTHER PARAKLETOS” heteros (another of a different kind) another allos (another of the same kind)
In which ways could this “another parakletos” help us?
He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John 14.26 He will bear witness about me. And you also will bear witness. John 14.26,27 He will guide you into all the truth. […] He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. John 16.13
It is as if the Spirit stands behind us, throwing light over our shoulder, on Jesus, who stands facing us. The Spirit’s message is never, “Look at me; listen to me; come to me; get to know me,” but always “Look at him, and see his glory; listen to him, and hear his word; go to him, and have life; get to know him, and taste his gift of joy and peace.” — J. I. Packer
The Holy Spirit points to JESUS, and Jesus points to the Father A person full of the Holy Spirit is a person full of Christ
You don’t need to leave this place alone!
