  2. John 6  John 6:1-10  What will follow is one of Jesus’ most impressive miracle.  John 6:11-13  Over 5, 000 men ate!  John 6:14  The crowd understood what happened.  Proclaim Jesus as the Prophet.  Energy leads to wanting to coronate Jesus. 6:15

  3. John 6  Apostles must have loved this.  Enthusiasm would only grow. 6:18-20  John 6:24, 25  Another positive sign.  John 6:26, 27  Doesn’t answer question but gives a strong rebuke.  Remember that Jesus didn’t just see the crowd, but the hearts of the crowd.

  4. John 6  What would the apostles be thinking?  Dialogue between Jesus and Jews:  6:28. What do you want from us?  6:29. Believe on Me.  6:30, 31. Show us a sign.  6:32, 33. Look for the right bread.  6:34. Give us this bread!  6:35. I am the bread of life.

  6. Sermon Observations  Note what Jesus said and how He says it.  The more disturbed they are, the deeper Jesus goes. 6:51-58  What does it mean to eat Jesus’ body and drink His blood?  Lord’s supper?  Compare 6:54 and 6:47  It means to believe Him and accept Him.

  7. John 6  6:60  Audience does not care for lesson.  How would Jesus respond?  6:61-64  Intensifies statements again.  John 6:66 shows the result.  Sad scene.  Jesus turns to the twelve. 6:67

  8. Jesus in John 6  Jesus had to know what His lesson was going to do.  Why preach this way?  Jesus wasn’t merely interested in drawing a crowd , but commitment .  This lesson served as a strainer for those who were not truly committed.  This scene leaves us with questions.

  9. Questions  Are we seeking the same thing Jesus sought?  Does our teaching do what His teaching did?  Will we leave Jesus too?

  10. Conclusion  Jesus is the master Teacher.  What will you do with His teaching?  Jesus used both His words and example to teach us.  His example on the cross is a lesson for us all.  Will you come to Him today?
